About

I am originally from a background in fashion and textile design and consider this to be a strong influence in the ceramic work I produce today. My interest in texture, pattern, colour and structure continues in clay.

I live beside Lough Neagh in Northern Ireland, which is an area of wild, untouched beauty. I am fascinated by the simultaneous wildness and calm, conflicting textures and the repetition that nature holds. The colour and light here provide a rich, natural palette. Movement and shifting in the Lough often reveals an extra dimension of flax dams, rock beds and algae beneath. I am in pursuit of natural colouring reflecting the environment and it seems fitting that I produce my own glazes, which represent this unique blend. All of my unique ceramic pieces are hand built , glazed and fired in my studio beside Lough Neagh.
